Changes in support conditions

The NOx Fund has made changes to certain support conditions in the regular support scheme. All changes will take effect on January 1, 2024.
An increase in the support rate for measures was approved at the NOx Fund's board meeting on October 18, 2023. The support rates for new applications were changed from 500 to 600 NOK per kg of NOx reduced, effective from January 1, 2024.
At the board meeting on December 12, the following changes to support conditions were approved:
- Support for new measures to be implemented in 2026 will not be subject to reduction in support commitments. The reduction in 2027 will remain as before.
- The threshold for rejecting small projects is simplified by applying only the threshold on the quantity of NOx reduced (at least 1 ton). The percentage threshold of 2% NOx reduction is eliminated.
- Vessels with a motor size below the tax threshold (<750 kW), whether downgraded or not, will not be eligible for support for an engine replacement with SCR to a larger motor above the tax threshold. Motors that were previously downgraded and are upgraded above the tax threshold must show at least one quarter of NOx reporting to qualify for support for future measures.
